ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I have two sons in high school. The school they attend is one of the most diverse in the city, but it also has a high volume of homeless students. One of my sons has a close friend who has had to commute to school from a shelter. My experience with these students is that they are eager to learn and willing to work hard to better their situation. I am very thankful for the privileges I have. It is up to ALL of us to help ALL of us.Dirk Fowler is an Associate Professor of Art in the Graphic Design program at Texas Tech University. Through his graphic design and letterpress studio, f2design, he has created award-winning posters and design work for clients such as Wilco, Columbia Records, Wired, Billboard, Texas Monthly and The New York Times.
